Column Protectors
Vertical steel columns in factories and commercial buildings are a vital part of the building's structure. They’re equally important in garages, workshops, and outbuildings. Accidental damage to columns can permanently affect a building's structure and is often costly to repair.
Even minor damage can cause excessive and avoidable maintenance repairs. Without protection, exposed steel or concrete pillars are at constant risk of damage from fork-lift trucks, vans, cars or lorries. Manufactured using high-quality, low-density, UV stabilized polyethene, BITO’s column protectors are highly flexible and strong. The bright yellow colouring makes them highly visible to factory or warehouse drivers and clearly identifies columns as a hazard. This product is supplied in two parts and is quick and easy to assemble without tools or floor fixings using the two sturdy Velcro straps provided.
Suitable for square, round or H section beams (RSJ’s), column protectors work by using an air pressure release system to cushion the impact, providing a robust physical shield for vulnerable structures. A standard column protector measures 1100 mm high and is available in two width options, 150-200 mm or 250-300 mm to suit various size columns and beams. Increase sizes to suit using BITO’s column protector infills. Add additional height by stacking multiple column protectors together.
